Hey there!
Welcome to my first blog. I’m Christina aka Steans. I am currently a Rowan University student finishing my last full semester. Upon graduating this year, I will have a BA degree in Liberal Studies with a major concentration in Writing Arts and History, along with a minor in Education and International Studies. Just recently I have been accepted into the International Studies Honor Society, Sigma Iota Rho.
Although I am still uncertain which career path I would like to take, I have gained seven years of experience as an elementary school instructional aide. I enjoy working with young children, but my true passions are art and design. I love how my artistic abilities allow me to brighten someone’s day. This job provided me with many opportunities to create many students resources such as worksheets and academic posters. I have also volunteered to make décor for various school events. So far my favorite opportunity was designing and painting the back wall of the stage for a school play.
Some of my biggest accomplishments while working at Broad Street Elementary School are gaining knowledge and a better understanding children’s needs as well as how to handle difficult scenarios. I have learned how to assist children from many different backgrounds as well as various students with special needs. This experience has allowed me to practice patience and be a leader. The job has also brought forth my ability to go above and beyond what is expected of me.
Once I complete my degree I plan to stay within the field of elementary education. However, nothing is certain as of today. As l plan on moving to Pennsylvania after graduation, I am also open to other careers that may involve writing arts such as becoming a magazine editor or graphic designer. My dream job however, would be to become a stay at home mom and write a series of children’s books.
